As a former Chef, food is very important to me. They say the fastest way to a mans heart is through his stomach, and for me that is most definitely true. This month, my partner and I checked out the eats at The Coliseum, on good old 8 Mile in Detroit. The Coliseum has an energy that pulses, creating a true high class club atmosphere. The menu is filled with a wide variety of mouth watering classics and reminds me of country club fare. Their cigar menu is the most extensive I’ve seen yet, and the bartenders know how to pour. We started with the bruschetta and tomato basil soup. Both were excellent, however, my buddy is 100% Italian and he insists the bruschetta was over cooked. But we both agreed the tomato basil relish was spot on. Many people (to include myself) have fond memories of the ‘90s TV miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s It as well as Tim Curry’s portrayal of the sinister clown demon Pennywise. While there are some iconic scenes from that version, unfortunately it has not aged well. Director Andy Muschietti (Mama) helmed this modern version and it blows the original out of the water. The town of Derry (in Maine, this is Stephen King) is being terrorized by a malevolent force that is preying on young children and subsequently murdering them. It takes the form of Pennywise the clown to lure them in to its maw, but can shapeshift into any form it likes. This time around Pennywise/It is being played by Bill Skarsgard and he does an absolutely fantastic and horrifying job. Pennywise’s design is downright unsettling as he looks like he’s wearing a man-suit that’s slightly too small for him.         Just in time for Halloween, I booted up my old Windows laptop and decided to play “Babysitter Bloodbath” for the first time. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the game, it gained immense popularity over the last four years via YouTube video walkthroughs/gameplay. The creators of the game, Pigfarm Productions, develop games that are all dedicated to 80’s slasher films. Babysitter Bloodbath is obviously a nod to John Carpenter’s 1978 classic, Halloween. Much like in the movie, a couple enlists an unsuspecting girl to babysit their young child. The young lady ultimately becomes prey to a maniacal killing machine. Now let’s move on to the actually gameplay. Controlling the main character was kind of difficult, seeing as I was controlling her with my computer keys and not a controller. Kid Cudi is an artist that has always stood out. Pop Quiz A teacher at Roy High School in Salt Lake City, Utah has been placed on paid leave after administering a questionaire to her students which asked them about their experiences with sex, drugs and alcohol. The teacher in question, Candance Thurgood, did not receive consent from parents before administering the disturbing, invasive quiz to her students. Thurgood is said to have been inspired by a 1981 Dear Abby article that asked readers the same kind of questions. The test is said to have ranked students indecency and implied that they are considered a “fruit cake” if they haven’t done many things with the opposite sex.
