DJ Jeff Hill: The Man Behind the Music - by DJ Ice Tray

“It’s been a wild 14 years.” Jeff Hill declares on a low key Tuesday night at Flint’s Deja Vu Showgirls, one of the state’s oldest operating adult clubs. He is in the command center of the building. Giant monitors for security, lights, music and couch dances surround him as he casually introduces girls on stage and wrangles the next from the dressing room via an intercom. He makes it look effortless but there are a lot of moving parts even on a slow weeknight. This is why he’s one of the best in the business.

Jeff got his start in radio back in 1999 on Detroit’s Rock Alternative station, 89X. He quickly made his way to the more lucrative strip club scene at Nathan J’s in 2000 where he stayed until 2003. After hearing of a possible DJ spot opening up across the street at Deja Vu he auditioned. The audition process went on for over a week with the former general manager, Bill Morris but ended with the old DJ being tossed out the front door while Hill was being escorted seamlessly into the booth from the back entrance and he’s been rocking out the Vu ever since.

The adult industry has connected Hill with some big names over the years and helped him explore his passion for acting. “Working with Dustin Diamond on Little Creeps was a highlight.” Sharing the screen with folks like Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Brian Posehn, and Joe Estevez are certainly memorable moments for Hill but working on the 2013 Bollywood film The Spirit of Mumbai is one of his top accolades.

While you might not hear Hill spinning any Bollywood tracks at Flint’s Deja Vu he will knock your socks off with his signature hard rock sets and powerful voice. “Trap rock remixes are becoming popular... but Deja Vu is one of the only places in town that still plays rap.” It’s that musical diversity and attention to trends that keeps Hill leading the pack even after 17 years in the booth. Hot women and hard rock are a classic combination that Hill has made a living on for nearly two decades but natural talent can’t be taught.

“Flint is the original Vice City,” Hill tells me. He’s not wrong. The adult clubs and, more recently, ganjaprenuers have been succeeding when other industries have come and gone. The folks in Flint are used to controversy but hardly get credit for being resilient. Everyone says Flint residents are foolish for staying but some of the hottest and most talented entertainers in the industry are being welcomed on stage by Hill every night and that alone makes it worth a visit. “Angel Beau was just here! We have features all the time.” If you’re brave enough to take a trip to the original Vice City for Memorial Day, you can hear DJ Jeff Hill blow the roof off while you party with Flint’s totally nude babes May 27, 28, and 29 at Flint’s Deja Vu Showgirls.
